AI models with web access can scan what’s trending right now and return a breakdown in plain language — no algorithm scrolling required. This recipe turns that into a full learning experience: what’s trending, why it’s trending, and how to actually do it.

The Recipe

What's the latest [type of trend — dance challenge / meme / phrase / aesthetic / sound]
that's going viral right now?

Give me:
1. A plain-English breakdown of what it is and where it started
2. Step-by-step instructions so I can try it myself
3. Why it's resonating — what's the cultural hook?
4. A search term or YouTube query I can use to find a video tutorial

Keep it conversational. Assume I'm not on social media 24/7.

Swap in what you’re after

Replace [type of trend] with whatever you want to track:

Tips for better results

Use a model with live web search — ChatGPT with Search, Perplexity, Gemini, or Claude with web access. A model without current data will give you trends from its training cutoff, not today.

Be specific about the platform — “What’s trending on TikTok” vs “What’s trending on LinkedIn” vs “What’s trending on Reddit” gives very different results.

Ask for the cultural context — the why is as useful as the what, especially if you’re creating content.

🔁 Leftover Remixes

🌶️ Spicy: “Find 3 trends that are big right now but feel like they peaked — and one that’s just starting. Explain how you can tell the difference.”

🧊 Mild: “What’s one trend I could adapt for [my industry / niche / audience] without it feeling forced? Walk me through how.”

💰 Budget: “Explain [specific trend] to me like I’ve never heard of it. Three sentences max.”
