Turn an Overwhelming To-Do List into Focused Action

Paste your chaotic task list β€” get back one domino task, quick wins, a deep work block, and a delegate/drop pile.

Best for Anyone staring at a sprawling task list paralyzed by where to start, or who ends every week with the same 40 undone items
When to use Weekly planning session, or any moment when your task list is causing more anxiety than clarity

A long to-do list isn’t a productivity system β€” it’s a source of decision fatigue. This recipe runs your raw list through an Eisenhower Matrix plus a Velocity Score (Effort vs. Impact) to turn chaos into a clear daily agenda.

Note: This is a two-step prompt. You’ll send the recipe first, the model will confirm and ask for your list, then you paste it in.

The Recipe

I have a massive, overwhelming to-do list that is causing decision fatigue. Act as a master organizer and guide me through triage.

Ask me to paste my raw list. Once I do, process it using a clear framework (like the Eisenhower Matrix combined with a "Velocity Score" β€” Effort vs. Impact).

Your output should filter my chaos into:
- The "One Thing" (The single domino task that makes everything else easier or unnecessary).
- The "Quick Wins" (Tasks taking under 5 minutes to clear mental space).
- The "Deep Work" block (1-2 major tasks requiring high cognitive load).
- The "Delegate/Drop" pile.

Give me the step-by-step instructions on how we will do this together.

Then paste your list when the model asks.

The Velocity Score

The model combines two dimensions to rank your tasks:

DimensionQuestion
ImpactIf this is done, how much easier does everything else get?
EffortHow much cognitive energy does this actually cost?

High impact + low effort = do it first. High effort + low impact = drop or defer.

The domino task

The β€œOne Thing” is the task that, once done, makes other tasks on your list easier or unnecessary. It’s rarely the most urgent item β€” it’s the most unlocking one. The model will look for it explicitly rather than just sorting by deadline or urgency.

What to paste

Dump everything β€” half-formed ideas, leftover items from last week, things you’ve been avoiding, vague notes. Don’t clean it up first. The messier the input, the more useful the triage output.

πŸ” Leftover Remixes

🌢️ Spicy: β€œNow take the Deep Work block item and break it into a 25-minute Pomodoro sequence with specific sub-tasks for each session.”

🧊 Mild: β€œJust find the One Thing from my list. One sentence on what it is and why it unlocks everything else.”

πŸ’° Budget: β€œLook at my list and tell me the 3 things I should do today and the 3 things I should stop pretending I’m going to do.”
